Description
Chencho Wangchuk began his career as a secondary school teacher at Tashidingkha Middle Secondary School (later renamed as Tashidingkha Central School) in Punakha. He earned a Bachelor of Education from Samtse College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan, and later completed a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Mahidol University, Thailand.
After teaching for 10 years, he joined Gedu College of Business Studies, Royal University of Bhutan, as a faculty member through a competitive selection process. He currently teaches English for Business Communication and Academic Writing at the undergraduate level and supervises final-year research projects.
Since 2018, he has served as the overall advisor to the Gedu Festival (G-Fest). In collaboration with Academic Representatives, he has organized five editions of the festival, an international business literary event, involving undergraduate students from both in-country colleges and an Indian college (Shri Ram College of Commerce).
During the college’s academic transformation, he contributed to the development of new modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He has also served as an external examiner for the Bachelor of Arts in Dzongkha and English at Norbuling Rigter College, and for the Bachelor of Arts in Himalayan Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literature at the College of Language and Culture Studies. Additionally, he served as a subject expert for the four-year Bachelor of Arts in English program at Norbuling Rigter College during its periodic review of the program in April 2026.
Inspired by His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk’s words, “You cannot give what you do not have”, Mr. Wangchuk is deeply committed to lifelong learning and self-directed reading. To strengthen his professional capacity, he actively pursues specialized certification courses on Coursera and regularly enages in scholarly activities.
