The Bachelor of Finance and Economics programme integrates and synergizes the strengths of the two disciplines in Economics and Finance. Finance is a microscopic look at industry risk and return on investment, while Economics is concerned with the big picture of how a country, region or particular market is operating and also Economics, being a science of choice, imparts the skill sets for problem-solving. The two are therefore complementary and intricately interlinked.
The Bachelor of Finance and Economics aims to provide students with a solid foundation in financial and economic theory and practice, develop students’ analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills to prepare them for careers in a range of financial and economic sectors, including investment banking, corporate finance, financial analysis, asset management and financial consulting. In addition, students will be able to identify and apply the tools of analysis to a wide range of economic issues, including the behavior of consumers and firms, the market structures, fiscal and monetary policy, and international trade.
Students will develop the skills necessary to make responsible professional judgments in their economic and financial decision-making. With the expanded depth for majors in Finance and Economics, the programme also prepares students for subsequent graduate studies. Further, it allows students to achieve the highest level of success in their professional careers. The Bachelors of Finance and Economics graduates will acquire adequate knowledge and skills required to pursue and practice professional qualifications and certifications, such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Fund Specialist (CFS), etc.
To encourage students to engage with real-world financial and economic challenges and to develop innovative solutions, the graduates will undergo a full semester professional internship (60 credits) in third year and also will be exposed with Industrial Project (36 credits) the fourth year This experiential learning opportunity offers an international workplace-based project, or more traditional research-based project.
Overall, the programme aims to provide students with a well-rounded education that equips them with the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the highly competitive and dynamic fields of finance and economics.

All applications for the undergraduate business programme at GCBS shall be accepted after fulfilling the entry requirements of the programme. The shortlisting of applicants for the GCBS entrance test (GET) will be on merit ranked based on their academic achievements in class XII ability rating points. Application is open to students of all streams (Commerce, Arts & Sciences) who fulfil the eligibility and Ability Rating criteria. The details are set out in the following table.

Shortlisted applicants are required to sit for the GCBS Entrance Test (GET). The test will comprise of a personal statement, personality trait and aptitude.
Selection will be based on the following weightage:
60% of Ability Rating Points as specified above,
40% GET (Personal Statement, Personality Trait & Aptitude Test)
